It started catching carpenter bees immediately. It’s probably trapped around 30–40 bees over 3 weeks using two traps. Bee activity has dropped significantly since then.

The vacant house next to me had about 12 carpenter bees in a beam but they were hanging out on my side of the fence. I opted to try this trap and the weather had been cool since I got it. It sat empty for weeks. Earlier this week I noticed one (only because there was a cardinal pecking at it). Yesterday I came home and there were seven. Today, there are two more alive but in the trap. I have no idea how this works but it is truly amazing. I bought the sticky gel because I thought I needed it as bait. I put that somewhere else and it really doesn’t seem to do anything. Just so you know . No bate needed. It works its magic on its own.

All i can say is that they work. Most of the bees are gone, and i imagine the few left will be captured also. Great product

Because of that, I’m not entirely convinced about its long-term durability—especially if it were to fall. I’d definitely recommend securing it well, as a drop could easily cause damage.

Overall, it does the job well, but for the price, I expected slightly better materials and sturdiness. The size is great, though, as it isn’t too big to be awkward in small spaces. It’s lightweight enough to hang near any hole with a simple nail, and it looks nice—so it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb.

Lastly, I like how easy it is to slide the jar in and out and how it has a hole to keep the bees from flying out when you empty it.

I deal with a carpenter bee problem every spring, so I’m really optimistic about this trap. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to test it yet because the bees have already disappeared this late in the season. I’ll definitely put it to use next spring and update my review with the results then!

This worked really well for me. My house has a lot of exposed wood, and carpenter bees were constantly drilling holes into it. I didn’t like the idea of trapping pollinators, but these little guys can be surprisingly destructive.
